At the end of the course, the professional is able to:
- describe the fluidmechanical effects on the human body and their importance for treatment
- explain how the various systems react to the pressure and thermal effects of immersion (cardio-vascular, respiratory, neuro-musculoskeletal)
- justify the reason for choosing aquatic therapy for the most common patient populations
- show safe and proper ways to enter and exit clients, relative to design of the pool and equipment
- demonstrate adequate supports while maintaining of changing basic body positions
- apply activities to make the client mentally adjust to water
- assess aquatic skills by using a specific aquatic measurement instrument
- describe characteristics of various aquatic therapy concepts
- use key elements of these aquatic therapy concepts
- screen for risk factors that impact a safe aquatic service
- write a pool management protocol, based on local regulations
